Moving Ramblings

Our little family is moving at the end of the month. I can't believe how massive this move is. The last time I moved from one state to another was when I was 14 and moving from Colorado to Utah. Now it's Utah to Florida and in the middle of the Summer! I'll be going from Hot, Dry Hell to Hot, Wet Hell... Not sure which one is worse.

Its been rough adjusting to the idea of living somewhere other than the West. The furthest East I've lived is Colorado. I will be happy to be closer to the ocean again, although I might be harboring some love for the Washington and Oregon coastline.

Lets look at some statistics here. I was born in Provo, UT and at a few weeks old we moved to Oregon. At the age of 2 we moved to Washington; then one move again in Washington from an apartment to a house. Age 9 or 10 we moved to colorado and thats where we stayed until I was 14. When we moved to Utah it started to get nuts. After I started college I moved around Provo and Alpine about 7 times. So you'd think I'd be used to moving around by now. I haven't moved nearly as much as kids in military families or anything, but it still feels like a lot when I write it all down.

All I can think about is how different a move across the country is now. We have ways to communicate with our loved ones like phones, email, video chat etc. Moving across the country used to mean you were never going to see some of your family and friends. EVER. It's really a comfort to know my family is just a phone call away. Heck a plane ride away. It takes only hours by plane or days by car, not years.

I'm praying that  the transition from West to South East goes smoothly. Until we meet again.
